Allen's passion for photography birthed from an unexpected trip to the Galapagos Islands in 2014. With a newly purchased DSLR camera in hand and in a world that was completely foreign to him, Allen was hooked from the first press of the shutter attempting to capture what he really saw with his own eyes.
After 6 years of extensive self-education in all facets of photography and post-processing, Allen has developed a unique eye for a variety of photographic genres. Although, landscape and in particular dark sky photography are his true passions.
Allen is also an expert in post-processing development and follows Ansel Adam's workflow where over 50% of the creative process occurs in the "darkroom". But of course, Allen's darkroom is his computer loaded with today's modern era software that is commonly available to all photographers.
Since moving to Albuquerque in 2006, the Southwest is Allen’s home and his love for the local landscape is boundless.
"There is more interesting and unique landscape to capture here in the Southwest than many (if not most) areas of the world. It would last me many lifetimes of attempts to capture ...why live anywhere else?"
Allen and his wife, Peggy, own and operate Land of Enchantment Photography, LLC and have run landscape photography tours and post-processing workshops for the past 4 years.
